What’s Happening in the Annex

Mayor Pro Tem Cohen met with HISD Trustee Anna Eastman as well as Leesa Love and Gary Hansel of the HISD Real Estate Division to discuss the potential impact adjacent construction may have on Helms Elementary in the historic Houston Heights. Discussion centered on a document put together by Principal Lola Perejón and the Helms Parent-Teacher Association, which details questions and concerns from parents on construction issues such as noise, traffic, and parking. Mayor Pro Tem Cohen will work with both the City of Houston Public Works and Engineering Departments and with the developer to find solutions to these concerns.

What’s Happening in the District

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is hosting a Christmas Village at Bayou Bend. Closed since August while its historic landscape has been restored following the impact of Hurricane Harvey, the 14-acre estate will once again become a winter wonderland with a trail of sparkling lights, animated projections, and photos with Santa and his giant sleigh! The event will run from tonight, Thursday, December 21st, through Saturday, January 6th, 2018, at 6PM each evening. Tickets are available for purchase online.
