Newly-elected Mayor Sylvester Turner and incoming Council Members Steve Le, Greg Travis, Karla Cisneros, Mike Knox, and Amanda Edwards joined returning Council Members to be sworn in to office on the morning of Monday, January 4th at Jones Hall.
In one of the first acts of his new administration, Mayor Turner appointed Council MemberCohen as his Mayor Pro Tem. This leadership role encompasses serving as the acting Mayor when the Mayor is unavailable, whether during Council meetings or at public events. Mayor Pro Tem Cohen will serve as the first female Jewish Mayor Pro Tem in the City of Houston’s history.
