This Week: Neighborhood Matching Grant Program Returns; Council Committee on Quality of Life Materials Available; Deadline Approaching for $10K Business Plan Competition Matching Grant Program Returns.
Department of Neighborhoods Director Takasha Francis began accepting applications on July 1st for participation in the Neighborhood Matching Grant Program. The program was established to help neighborhoods fund community beautification and improvement projects via matching grant reimbursements for up to 50% of project costs. The Department will administer grants from $500 – $5000 and will accept applications throughFriday, November 2nd at 5PM. Interested neighborhood groups and civic clubs that are registered 501(c)3 or 501(c)4 organizations may review the attached Program Guidelines and Application and submit as directed.
Committee Materials Available Online
Chair Cohen convened a special-called meeting of the Council Committee on Quality of Life, during which the Solid Waste Management Department shared a presentation on the need for a Long Range Solid Waste Plan. The meeting is archived online via HTV(under the Committees & Commissions tab).
Deadline Approaching for $10K Business Plan Competition
On Monday, July 16th at 2PM, the application period will close for the 2018 LiftOff Houston Start-Up Business Plan Competition. New Houstonian-owned businesses have the opportunity to participate in a five-month program to provide them the tools and support to develop a sound business plan. $10K will be awarded to the top three business plans in the categories of Product, Service, and Innovation.
