Mayor’s Town Hall Meeting: Making Houston Stronger
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett will host a televised town hall meeting on rebuilding our region post-Harvey. Discussion and questions will center on what is being done to protect the Houston area from another flood catastrophe. The town hall special will air live on Monday, January 29th at 7PM, televised on KPRC2 and streaming online at Click2Houston.com.
Register to Vote by February 5th
To participate in the Harris County Democratic and Republican Party Primary Elections, one must register to vote by no later than Monday, February 5th. To do so, residents must fill out the State of Texas’ online application, print, and mail to:

What’s Happening in the District
On Wednesday, January 31st, the Houston Office of Emergency Management will host a public meeting to discuss the draft Hazard Mitigation Plan, which outlines strategies and projects to limit the effects of natural disasters on our community.
During the meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to:
- contribute written or in-person comments to the Plan;
- assess their home’s risk of flooding, wildfire, storm surge, and other natural hazards; and
- speak one-on-one with representatives from Houston Fire Department, Public Works and Engineering, the National Weather Service, and other agencies.
The meeting will take place at the United Way of Greater Houston and is scheduled to begin at 6P. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP online.
