Runoff Election Day Tomorrow

Saturday, December 9th is Runoff Election Day in Houston. From 7AM – 7PM, voters will cast their ballots in runoff races for HISD Trustee in Districts I and III and for HCC Trustee in District IX. Please note that you must vote at your designated Precinct Voting Location. Voters are advised to confirm their location in advance at www.HarrisVotes.com since Hurricane Harvey has impacted some normal voting locations.

What’s Happening in the Annex

Mayor Pro Tem Cohen met with Chief Resiliency Officer and former Council Member Steve Costello and Assistant Director Rod Pinheiro to discuss the Storm Water Action Team (SWAT) Program. This initiative seeks to improve localized drainage with small-scale projects throughout Houston, addressing issues such as collapsed outfalls, roadside ditches, and grate failures. District C projects in the Forest West and Westmoreland communities were completed during the pilot phase. Several additional projects are under consideration throughout the District for the upcoming fiscal year.

What’s Happening in the District

This Saturday, December 9th will beLights in the Heights, the annual, pedestrian-friendly festival in the historic greater Heights community. The event will include a parade, carolers, hot beverages, carriage rides, and dozens of homes with beautiful holiday decorations. The festivities will take place from 6PM – 9PMon Bayland Ave and on Woodland St between Studewood St and Beauchamp St; and on Norhill St between Highland St and Euclid St.
