Quality of Life Committee Meets
The Houston Department of Health and Human Services provided Quality of Life Committee members with an update on their efforts to link HIV-positive Houstonians with long-term medical care. Chief Development Officer Andy Icken also presented to the Committee, reportng on the Gus Wortham Golf Course Rehabilitation and Houston Botanic Garden. The Quality of Life Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 2:00pm in Council Chambers. The meetings are open to the public and include an opportunity for citizen comments.
On the Agenda
Council authorized the transfer of ownership of two land parcels from the Public Works and Engineering Department to the Houston Parks and Recreation Department(HPARD). Both lots are located in the Houston Heights (at 437 W. 26th St and at 1502-1508 Herkimer St) and HPARD plans to utilize them for future park development.
What’s Happening in the District
This weekend, District C will host the annual Houston LGBT Pride Festival and Parade. Over 325,000 attendees from Houston and all over the globe take part in this iconic Houston event each year. The parade will commence on Saturday, June 28th at 8:15pmand will run along Westheimer Rd. from Dunlavy St. to Stanford St.
